In reference to Therese Ruesink’s letter that Catholic voters are required to eyeball records, I agree, with the following distinctions: To base our vote exclusively on the abortion issue leaves out of the discussion many other moral life issues important to conscientious Catholics. The “culture of life” espoused by the Church includes its strong opposition to the Iraq war, to the death penalty, to torture and the reversal of civil liberties; for example, denial of habeas corpus.
