Concerning Pope Pius XII

To the Sentinel:
Thanks to Patricia Treece for her letter in the April 30 Sentinel. She writes of the priests, brothers and nuns who died in the gas chambers for being born Jewish.
And she reminds us that Pope Pius XII “spent his entire family inheritance saving Jews.” That good pope “was acclaimed by the New York Times, London Times and Golda Meir for speaking out against Nazi persecution.
But then came a Communist writer, as well as others, with lies about Pius XII. Could that be why the good pope was accused of public silence on the extermination of six million European Jews? Sadly, Pope Benedict bears the results of those lies.
Treece recommends Rabbi David Dalin’s “the Myth of Hitler’s Pope,” adding that the Sentinel has corroborated the truth in that book.
