Catherine "Katie, Kate, Kay" Ann Mahoney Donahue passed away peacefully at her home on Grant St. with her son Sean, daughter Mary, granddaughter Catherine, and son in law James at her side.
Catherine was born on Aug. 9, 1930 in Providence, Rhode Island, to Andrew and Catherine Mahoney. She had one sister Mary, and three brothers Andrew, Michael, and John, all of whom are deceased.
She attended Elmhurst Academy for her primary and secondary schooling and received her bachelor’s degree from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, and later her master’s degree from the University of Portland.
She met her husband Peter while teaching in Morocco and they were married in 1961 in Madrid, Spain.
Catherine and Peter had six children: Mary Catherine (deceased), Sean Peter (deceased), Michael, Matthew, Sean, and Mary.
She was a teacher in Rhode Island, in the Air Force Dependent schools of Morocco, England, Germany and later with the Portland School District from which she retired.
Catherine, Mom, Grandma Katie, Kate, Kay, Katie. She had many terms of endearment. She was a wonderful friend and mother. She loved to travel and learn new things and spend time with all she met.
She is survived by her sons Michael, Matthew, Sean, and daughter Mary Rose. Survivors also include five grandchildren.
