YAMHILL — Betty Bernice Webb, 79, died. Feb. 7. There was a funeral Mass at St. John Church and interment was at St. James Cemetery.
Mrs. Webb was born Feb. 18, 1937, to Chester and Frances Barrett. She grew up in Yamhill. After high school, she and Jay Burge married Sept. 22, 1955. They soon after had a son, Jay Jr. whom they lost at 11 months. They went on to have six more children including two sets of twins. The couple divorced in 1977. Raising her children by herself, she worked many jobs, including chicken catching at night and at Lyden Farms’ chicken plant in Portland. She met and married Darrell Webb on Feb. 14, 1984, and welcomed three step children into her life.
Mrs. Webb was active at St. John's Catholic Church in Yamhill. She loved her church and the people in it. She dearly loved and cared for her mother until she passed. Her heart was always open to others. Mrs. Webb had 20 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being outside and working in her flower beds, fishing or just going for a walk in the sunshine.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail Burge, Fran Walters, Fay Ash and Janice Ausmus; and by her siblings, Steve Barrett, Pearl Amerson, Margorie Avery and Mary Rhodes. She is preceded in death by her two sons, Jay Jr. and Jayson Burge, and her daughter, Theresa Burge, her step-daughter, Jody Webb, and her husband Darrell Webb.
