BANKS — Mary Senko Herb, 75, died Dec. 13, 2016 at her home. There was a funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church, Forest Grove.
Interment was at the St. Francis Cemetery in Roy.
Mrs. Herb was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Portland, the daughter of the late Martin Francis Senko and Julia M. (Heinrich) Senko. She was raised in the Hillsboro community and attended St. Mary’s of the Valley Academy in Beaverton, class of 1959.
She married Keith Neil Herb July 24, 1965, in St. Matthew’s Church in Hillsboro. Following their marriage they lived in Forest Grove until 1979, when they moved to Roy. Mrs. Herb lived in Roy until 2011, when she moved to Banks.
Mrs. Herb worked for Tektronix, Inc. in Beaverton; for the Forest Grove School District as an assistant substitute teacher; for the Tradewell Shopping Center in Forest Grove; for the St. Francis School in Roy as an instructional assistant and then for U.S. Bank as a teller at their Banks branch for nearly 20 years, when she retired.
She had been a member of the Banks Lions Club.
Among her special interests she enjoyed designing and carving wood Santas, gardening, reading, painting, watching her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her husband Feb. 25, 1984.
Mrs. Herb was also preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Julia Senko; by her brother, Father Martin Senko, and her four sisters, Dorothy Rousseau, Alice Wilson, Teresa Pfeifer and Julie Schlegel.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Nichole Herb, of Cornelius; her three daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Marvin Spiering, of Banks; Jacqueline Herb, of Tualatin; and Kathleen and Bruce Berry, of Oregon City; her two brothers, James Senko, of Steilacoom, Washington, and Robert and Marilyn Senko, of Bethany and her sister, Barbara Beaulieu, of San Rafael, California.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jesse Herb, Cassidy Herb, Keith Spiering and Shane Spiering; her great-grandson, Jayden Herb and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Banks Community Food Bank, 42451 NW Depot St, Banks OR 97106 in her memory.
