Louis Bernard Schwab, 88, died Dec. 28 at the Marquis Tualatin Assisted Care Center. There was a rosary followed by a funeral Mass at St. Charles Church, Portland. Mr. Schwab was a longtime parishioner at St. Charles in Portland and also attended Mass at St. Francis in Tualatin.
He was born Sept. 1, 1928, to and married Aug. 14, 1948.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Lee Oughton.
His family and others knew Mr. Schwab for his family genealogy books and the large wall-sized genealogy charts that were posted at Schwab family reunions. He also led several Schwab family trips to Germany and connected with Schwab relatives there.
He was a member of the Adolph branch of the family tree.
Mr. Schwab joined the Marine Corp at the end of World War II, when he was 17 years old. He and Bonnie raised six children. He was a successful machinist, steel detailer, and created a business named Concrete Accessories.
His children are Louis, Patrick, James, Christopher, Gregory and Maryann. He also has 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
