Anne Rose Lawrence

LAKE OSWEGO — Anne Rose Sikking Lawrence, 80, of Vineland, New Jersey, died Dec. 8.  She was being cared for Alzheimers at Marie Rose Center at Mary's Woods. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at St. John the Apostle Cemetery in Oregon City.  A memorial Mass will be celebrated Jan. 28 at the Mary's Woods Chapel.

Mrs. Lawrence was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Vineland, New Jersey, to the late Helen (Schneider) and Cornelius Sikking.  She graduated in 1954 from Sacred Heart High School and enjoyed attending class reunions.  Upon graduation, she started her career at Wheaton Plastics in Mays Landing, New Jersey.  Anne was quickly promoted to Wheaton's in New York City and gained recognition as their first women in sales.  In 1976, she moved to Los Angeles, California, pursuing her career in sales of glass containers.  She met and married Jim Lawrence and the couple moved to Oregon City, where they owned and managed three mobile home parks together.  She was an avid parishioner of St John the Apostle Catholic Church.  She loved gardening and supplied her church weekly with dahlias. At Christmas time, family and friends looked forward to receiving her homemade chocolates.  She was well-traveled and enjoyed camping and going back east to visit family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Lawrence; two brothers, Cornelius "Neil" Sikking, and Jack Sikking, and their spouses; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Rose Marie Newcomb in 2011.

Arrangements by Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud.
