BEAVERTON — The Confident Catholics Workshop — set for 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday April 1 at Our Lady of Peace Retreat here — is a one-day session coordinated with the Archdiocese of Portland and the Franciscan Sisters at Our Lady of Peace Retreat House.
The low-cost day is “designed to help adults in the archdiocese be more confident in speaking about their faith in their everyday lives,” says Leandra Wolf, the organizer.
Speakers include Father Lucas Laborde, pastor of St. Patrick Parish in Portland and a founder of the St. John Society, which focuses on evangelizing in the modern era. Also speaking will be Rolando Moreno, director of the Office of Catechesis and Faith Formation for the Archdiocese of Portland; attorney Tyler Smith, an expert in legal protection for religion in Oregon; and Christopher White of Catholic Voices USA, who also writes a column for the Crux website.
Wolf, a teacher at St. Matthew School in Hillsboro who studied at Notre Dame and Christian Brothers University, will discuss listening strategies.
The workshop begins with Mass.
