Melody Rose, president of Marylhurst, will lead a talk April 6 entitled “Leader of the Free World? The Future of American Women in Politics.” The talk is one of four in a speakers series hosted by the university.

Marylhurst University is hosting a series of talks on issues relating to social justice beginning Feb. 23 with “Mind the Gaps: How Gender Shapes Our Lives,” led by Jade Aguilar, assistant professor of sociology and women’s and gender studies at Willamette University. All talks will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Old Library in the BP John Administration Building.

The Marylhurst Speaker Series convenes facilitators and speakers on pressing issues of the day. The first talks in the series investigate topics like gender disparities, race and diversity and Oregon’s immigrant and refugee population.

Melody Rose, president of Marylhurst, will lead a talk April 6 titled “Leader of the Free World? The Future of American Women in Politics.”

Three of the scheduled talks are part of Oregon Humanities’ Conversation Project. Through the Conversation Project, Oregon Humanities offers free programs that engage community members in thoughtful, challenging conversations about ideas that impact our daily lives and the state's future.

The speaker series is hosted by Marylhurst’s Department of Interdisciplinary and Applied Liberal Arts and through the support of Oregon Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Oregon Cultural Trust.
