On ‘Rethinking the Galileo Case’ (Feb. 3, page 9)

So Galileo’s book was not removed from the Catholic Church’s index of prohibited books fully until 1835 because he hadn’t provided sufficient proof for the Catholic Church’s scientists? Perhaps it would be best if you stopped trying to rewrite history for the faithful and stick to telling the truth.

It’s OK that the church wasn’t perfect. Accepting that is a lot better than publishing fabricated history rewrites.

I do want to compliment the Catholic Church for its progressive stance on established sciences like evolution during the past 50 years. We’ve come a long way.
