AUMSVILLE — Winifred “Winnie” Jane Fromherz, 89, a parishioner of St. Mary Church, Shaw, died Jan. 19 in Stayton. There will be a rosary at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Corvallis. There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church before the rosary. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

Mrs. Fromherz was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Montrose, New York, and moved to Oregon in 1946.  She lived the past 51 years in West Stayton. She married Arthur Francis Fromherz Sr. on February 17, 1946, at St. Mary Church in Corvallis. 

She raised 12 children then worked as a cook at West Stayton School for many years. She was a member of the Stayton Kiwaniannes, the St. Mary, Shaw, Women’s guild (altar society), and the Aumsville Historical Society. She loved bowling, fishing, gardening, painting ceramics, camping at the coast, and bird watching, especially hummingbirds. Mrs. Fromherz always had her camera and loved taking pictures at family and fun events.  She is survived by her 12 children and their spouses: Daniel, Leonard (Cam), Jane, Ernie (Vivian), Esther, Russ (Marie), Carolyn (Dennis) Patience, Lou Ann Silbernagel, Martha (Mark) Northup, Arthur Jr. (Terry), Mary (Mike) Holt, and Judy; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Holt in 2003 and her husband Aug. 16, 2004.
