MOUNT ANGEL — The 13th annual St. Joseph the Worker dinner will be held Sunday, May 7, at St. Mary Parish Center.

The proceeds will support the Benedictine Sisters’ shelter ministry, which, together with Mount Angel Abbey and St. Mary Parish in Mount Angel, has provided essential services for 29 years. The sisters have given housing, meals and case management for homeless families. In addition, Casa Adele provides temporary housing for farm workers and their families. Mission Benedict distributes food, clothing, furniture, household items and emergency aid to local families in need. In 2016 Mission Benedict served 1,590 families, including 3,667 adults and 3,282 children. Mission Benedict also gave Christmas food boxes to 106 families.

The Benedictine Sisters invite everyone to participate in their mission by coming to the annual dinner and/or being a sponsor of the dinner, which begins with a social at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and the program at 6:45 p.m. The cost is $50 per ticket. Guests will enjoy an entertaining social and delicious dinner and learn about building a brighter future for the homeless in our community.
